The Purchasing Forecast Report spotlights items which may need to be purchased based on the average weekly sales for the item and "pushes" items that are lingering on your shelves.
This report uses current on-hand inventory balances, open sales orders, open purchase orders , and previously short shipped sales order quantities to calculate an available inventory based on future orders and purchases. Total sales for a user-defined period are deducted from the available inventory to calculate a recommended purchase quantity.
Items that are more than a user-defined number of days old will be flagged with a Y (Y=yes) in the Push column of the report to indicate that the item is getting old and needs to be "pushed" by the sales department to help prevent out of date inventory from remaining in stock.
The report can be filtered to one, several, or all departments; one, several, or all item groups, or through the item mask. Enter the number of weeks of sales to be used to calculate sales volume and how many days old to trigger the push quantity.
For example: The user has a finished goods item that is 100 days old. They have 100 cases of on-hand inventory, 100 cases of open orders, 200 cases on open purchase orders and the total sales for the last twelve weeks are 500. The report will show a recommended purchase of 300 cases (100 on-hand less 100 open orders plus 200 open purchase orders less 500 from sales history = 300 cases to purchase). If the days old to push was set to 90 days a Y (Y=yes) would appear in the push column of the report because the lot date is greater than 90 days.
